Saturday Coffee Mornings

As a trial, we ran fortnightly Saturday coffee mornings at the school from March to June. Attendance was variable and became less and less as the summer (if you dare call it that) progressed. We are only too happy to restart them again if the community would like them so please complete the questionnaire below so we can best decide how to proceed. Thank you.

Bracadale Blitz – Beach Clean

Subject to suitable weather conditions, the Scottish Coastal Clean Up project will be here next weekend with their beach cleaning boat to blitz the loch and try to remove as much marine litter as possible from the more inaccessible parts of the loch, from Roag to Satran!

There will be an organised clean at Ardtreck on Saturday (See SCCU poster below) but on Friday and in parallel with this, the beach cleaning boat will hopefully be available to pick up and remove litter from other parts of the coastline (and potentially the islands) so if anyone else wants to get involved on either of the days, or knows of areas that need cleaning/litter removing and wants to let us know where they are, please contact either Kerrie at the SCCU (kerrie@caledonianenvironmental.co.uk) or Skye Beach Cleans (skye.beachcleans@gmail.com).

Struan Community Council Responses to Planning Applications

Further to a recent post on the “Skye Windfarm Information Group” (SWIG) Facebook Page of 5th August 2024 stating the Struan Community Council had objected to the proposed Ben Aketil Repower & Extension, we would like to make it clear that the Struan Community Council have not objected to the proposed development, simply made comment on the Traffic Management Plan for this and all other proposed Applications.

SWIG have advised that this was taken from Section 5.2 of the Officer Report of Handling of Ben Aketil, a Report which we are not aware of.

A copy of the comments made by Struan Community Council on this Application can be viewed on the Struan Community Website:

Struan CC would like to acknowledge and thank SWIG for updating their original post to note that Struan CC did not object to the Ben Aketil Wind Development, the error lies within the Highland Council Planning Report.
